A fundamental and natural principle in health is focused on the free flow of energy and blood.
Nikola Tesla, engineer and inventor who’s contributed to the development of the modern electrical supply system we use today once said, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration”.
Blood Flow
Just like we need to eat, breathe and eliminate waste from our body, every individual cell within the body has the same needs. Every cell in the body needs to receive nutrients and oxygen. Every cell makes waste that needs to be eliminated from the body. But what is the delivery system that provides such an important function? Blood is the delivery system that transports nutrients and oxygen to every cell and shuttles out toxic waste.
When blood flow is insufficient, blocked, or weak, tissue in the body will suffer, toxins will build up and disease and dysfunction will develop into signs and symptoms of poor health.
The cells and tissue such as muscles and organs have important functions but without sufficient flow of blood their functions and abilities will be weak and impaired.
Energy Flow
Electricity is another matter. Actually, electricity is not matter, it’s energy. Energy created by the flow of electrons. In some circles of science everything is made of energy and what we call matter is just a denser form of energy.
Modern medicine is based on chemistry. When you seek out medical care, it often results in a prescription of medicine in the form of a pharmaceutical drug.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on energy (qi) – another important element in nature and physics.
Acupuncturists talk about energy flow through specific points and pathways in the body. Some tissue in the body like fascia, nerves and blood vessels are more electrically conductive than other tissue like skin.
Disease and dysfunction in the body can be simply understood as a deficiency of energy flow to specific tissue and cells thereby weakening their ability to regenerate and function optimally.
Disease occurs from an insufficient flow of energy and blood that is needed for cells to regenerate and function properly.
Here’s a few examples of how the free flow of blood and energy can be applied.
Life is about movement. We know staying active (exercise) gets things flowing. To get up and go you first need to rest. It’s a yin yang thing. Activity is supported by rest – push, pull, on, off, positive, negative – energy flow requires a potential difference – a high and a low. Balance is important. Extremes lead to problems. Too much of one, not enough of the other and you get stuck, no flow.
What about eating? Overeat, eat heavy foods, feel bloated, feel tired, gain weight – is this a balanced model that will get you flowing or an extreme that will leave you stuck? Eating light, small, simple, natural, fresh– there’s lots of energy in fresh foods. You’ll manage your weight better and you’re less likely to clog your arteries or your bowels – keep it moving right!
Overuse – the body will tell you when you’re overusing it – pain is a big tell! Know your limits – look for moderation and not extremes so the body is not overwhelmed and can recover well.
Poor Posture – poor posture can block circulation, sitting too long, standing too long, laying down too long, slouching, positioned in twisted postures – all of this can block circulation and lead to aches and pains – flow of qi and blood is chocked off in such irregular or excessive postures.
Mental / Emotional Health – instead of calm, cool and collected I see a lot of busy-mindedness and anxiety out there. Busy, busy, busy….rushing around. Not knowing what’s coming next. Always feeling unsettled and unable to relax. This is not a state that’s going to promote healing. Some people are locked in a sympathetic dominance state where the body is responding to stress and not able to relax and heal. This is extreme and it doesn’t allow the flow of what is necessary to maintain homeostasis and promote healing and recovery.
