First, make sure the fundamental pillars of health are in good shape. If your fundamentals are restored and functioning well many of the chronic signs and symptoms will disappear. What remains will be less confusing to diagnosis and select treatments will be more effective.
Sleep, Diet/Digestion, Mental-Emotional health, Rest / Activity – these are the fundamental pillars of health required for reconditioning, restoring and rejuvenating the health of your body.
Rest / Activity – some people are too active while some are too sedentary. Make an effort to balance rest and activity. If you’re too active work on resting, stress management techniques or meditative practices for balance. If you’re hardly moving, always stuck in the same position make an effort to get active – exercise, walk around, get up and get moving.
Diet / Digestion – this is too big of a topic to cover here. In short, there is eating healthy food and then there is being able to digest it. Many people focus on all the whacky trends of so-called healthy eating. You’re body will tell you if you listen.
If you’re overweight – you know what’s going on. Less calories is the key. You just need the will to get it done. If you have bloating, burning, constipation, diarrhea, cramping, nausea, low appetite or a heavy appetite – it doesn’t matter if you’re eating organic golden food from the heavens – your digestive system is not working properly.
This is a major problem for most people and it worsens as we get older leading to all sorts of other chronic health issues. Stomach acid is needed to melt food down into a digestible liquid form. Taking pills to suppress stomach acid weakens digestion. It’s not the solution. You need an alternative and natural therapeutic approach. I know a good acupuncturist who can help!
Mental-Emotional Health – The mind and emotions can be the source or root of many health issues. We can get locked in a state of stress (sympathetic dominance) that drains or resources and our energy – worry, overthinking, busy-minded, endless mental chatter, anxiety, depression, negative thinking and so on. This needs to be unlocked and released.
Yes, we encounter stress but we also need time to recover – we need balance – activity vs rest. Ensuring good fundamentals will help restore the rest and recovery state that is needed to balance out the stress and depletion of our internal resources.
