2. Clean Needle Technique Certification
Acupuncture is a very safe medical procedure particularly because of the extensive training of physical anatomy and the requirement to pass a national needle safety course. This needle safety course administered by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is known as the Clean Needle Technique Course. For acupuncturist to pass board certification this clean needle technique course, developed in 1985 is required by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

To maintain NCCAOM board certification and state License 20 hours per year of continuing education is required. This furthers a deepening knowledge and expertise of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
