Chamomile Tea for Anxiety
Here’s another natural health tip for your adolescent child. Have you tried chamomile tea for anxiety?
Introducing tea’s to your children is a great way to offer something that is natural and soothing to what troubles may come along.
Chamomile is a great herb to help with anxiety and digestive problems. If you feel jittery in the gut or hyped up you should try chamomile tea. Chamomile has a lite fruity flavor. It kind of reminds me of apples.
There are so many challenges in life that can get the kids and parents feeling anxious and wound up. This stress can have an adverse effect on the digestive system. You may not feel like eating or if you do eat it might not feel like it sits well.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, emotions are thought to upset liver function and can invade the digestive system. The diagnosis is Liver invading the Stomach. Emotions can be so overwhelming that there’s no room for eating food. Obviously if this becomes chronic it can lead to more health problems.
If you like gardening you may want to grow chamomile. Chamomile is easy to grow in New England. I rack the flowers off in my herb garden with my fingers. I let them dry in an open container and have them to use in tea over the summer and fall. If you don’t want to grow chamomile don’t worry. Chamomile is a common tea you can find in the store as well.
My kids don’t like hot tea and prefer warm tea. It’s best to steep the tea and then let it cool a bit before serving it to the kids. You can put an ice cube in the tea to chill it quick or you can cut it with room-temperature water.
Stress comes in all forms. Stress can affect each one of us differently including our children. The next time you or your kids feel stressed, anxious or jittery try sipping on some chamomile tea to help promote relaxation.
