Offering a safe, informative and mindful form of exercise to cultivate qi and open the pathways to rewarding health benefits.
In the practices of Tai Chi and Chi Kung one’s intention is placed on self-cultivation, self-awareness and the cultivation of Qi for health. Qi, pronounced ‘Chee’, is known in Oriental Medicine as ‘vital life force’ or ‘energy’.
Tai Chi Ch’uan (more appropriately written as Tai Ji Quan and pronounced – ‘Tai Jee Chuen’) is a form of Chi Kung (pronounced chee gong), or ‘energy study’ practiced for health rejuvenating benefits. Tai Chi Ch’uan translates as Grand Ultimate Fist – a reference to its Chinese martial arts origins.
Tai Chi and Chi Kung involve slow, gentle movements to strengthen and mobilize joints and muscles, improve physical fitness, encourage a deep sense of relaxation, increase mental focus, promote correct body posture, increase coordination and develop a stronger mind – body connection. Studies have shown the ancient art of Tai Chi, also described as a “meditation in motion”, benefits a wide range of health conditions.
An additional benefit is the use of the Stepwise Progressive teaching method because of its evidence-based teaching model emphasizing simple steps to clear instruction and safety.
