Sugar and emoitions are connected. Some people going through feelings such as anxiety and depression will self-medicate unknowingly with sugar. The problem here is that sugary snacks are high in calories and low in nutrients. So if you’re looking to gain weight, starve your body of good nutritional food and feel terrible – sugar is the way to go!
If you’re the kind of person who can’t pass up a sugary snack you probably have a sugar sensitivity. An addiction could be another way to say it. Sugar initially tranquilizes your emoitons but it’s a vicious cycle – the futher away you get from a mourishing healthy diet, the more depleted you become making those sugar cravings stronger. Think of these sugar cravings as a sign from your body telling you that you are starving for healthy nutrients not sugar. Every time you eat you have a chance to draw in some high quality nutrition.
To get ride of the sugar cravings you need to eat a whole food diet and stay away from refined or processed foods. Whole food means the food is in it’s original form – an apple is a whole food but apple sauce is not. Whole food has the most nutrition – processed food has been beaten up which depletes these important nutrients. refining these beaten up foods and fortifying them with a few vitamins is not good enough. The big offenders are bread, pasta, and soda – these refined foods are low in nutrients and have a high glycemic index (high in sugar). something else to consider is that organic whole food is even higher in nutrients than most non-organically farmed whole foods. So if you want to feel good try eating more real food (whole food) – that’s nature’s path to good health.
